TLDR

Yahoo Finance reports that the US added 29,000 jobs in September, below the 90,000 economists expected, while unemployment rose from 4.1% to 4.2%. It says healthcare added 17,000 jobs and financial activities lost 7,000. The Financial Times reports that July and August payrolls were revised down by a combined 60,000, prompting traders to pull back bets on Fed rate rises. Reuters says the labor market remains stable.

@realEstateTrentThis is more reflective of the facts on the ground in America. In the strip mall world, rising costs have forced many small business owners to reduce staff and find other ways to cut - and sales have generally been flat in terms of real dollars. We are not seeing an increase in delinquencies or late-pay, but things are not exactly robust out there either - especially in areas with lower income levels. I understand the fed wanting to slow down inflation, but this economy does not need slowing down. The average American does not see a robust economy, and the numbers are starting to show it. None of us know if rates are going up or down - INCLUDING THE FED, but inflation expectations aside, the macro pressure indicates a climate where it makes more sense to reduce rates to combat pressures on the economy, not raise them.10h
