China urges US to halt proposed expansion of outbound investment curbs

Nikkei Asia, carrying Reuters, reports China’s commerce ministry urged the US on October 24 to stop expanding restrictions on American investments in China. Beijing said the proposal would disrupt trade ties and reserved the right to take unspecified countermeasures. The US Treasury has said the measures are not limited to China and are intended to keep US capital from supporting foreign adversaries’ development of dual-use technologies that could threaten US national security.
