Tarbell Center pledges $10 million for AI journalism by the end of 2027

Semafor reports that the Tarbell Center for AI Journalism is pledging $10 million by the end of 2027 to fund mainstream and independent AI coverage. Its new grantmaking fund will support newsrooms and other reporting projects. NPR’s Machine Gods video podcast is receiving $480,000, while Tarbell is separately giving NPR’s Power and Influence desk $250,000 to expand coverage of AI, politics, money and power.
