TLDR

Al Mayadeen English, citing an IEA statement, reports that around 325 million barrels of a planned 400 million-barrel emergency oil release had been released. IEA chief Fatih Birol said continuing disruptions were keeping fuel markets under pressure. The agency said Middle Eastern refined-product shipments remained severely restricted and Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries were further squeezing diesel supplies.

@MayadeenEnglishEven as the US says it has the surge in oil prices under control, International Energy Agency (IEA) Executive Director Fatih Birol told G7 leaders on Friday that the coordinated emergency stock release had helped plug supply shortfalls, but continuing disruptions were keeping fuel markets under pressure. "Around 325 million barrels of the IEA collective action announced on 11 March have so far been released," Birol said, according to an agency statement. That amounts to more than 80% of the 400 million barrels committed by member countries in March, when the agency launched its largest coordinated emergency release to address war-related supply disruptions in the Middle East. Birol warned that the Strait of Hormuz crisis continued to weigh heavily on energy markets, with diesel facing particularly acute pressure. Although crude exports from the Middle East have recovered significantly, shipments of refined petroleum products remain severely restricted, the IEA said. Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries have compounded those difficulties, further limiting diesel availability and driving prices higher. The agency warned that the resulting squeeze posed significant economic risks.4h
