Google and NHG Health plan Singapore WhatsApp AI health coach trial for early 2027

Google and NHG Health announced plans on Oct. 29, 2026, to test an AI health coach in Singapore. NHG Health population health chief operating officer Ong Jing Fang told The Straits Times that a select group would get access in the first quarter of 2027 as part of a nine-month proof-of-concept study.

The planned coach will run through NHG Healthbot, NHG Health’s chatbot on WhatsApp. It is intended to offer lifestyle guidance and preventive care reminders, including prompts for people eligible for Healthier SG who have not gone for screenings. Seniors will also be included, Ong told The Straits Times. The report says the coach is planned to support voice messages and all four of Singapore’s national languages. It may suggest healthier meals or nearby places to exercise using services such as Google Maps.

Google’s announcement describes a population health program designed to forecast risks such as chronic conditions across groups and feed those insights into the coach. reports that the proposed model combines NHG Health’s de-identified population health database with Google’s geospatial tools. Senior Minister of State Tan Kiat How told The Straits Times that the collaboration would explore whether the coach could direct clinically sensitive or urgent issues to appropriate care channels.
