UK sets out $800 million in AI security funding, including plans for a $134 million biosecurity lab

Reuters reports the UK set out around £600 million ($800 million) in funding largely aimed at defending against health and security threats from AI. Bloomberg reports £100 million ($134 million) for an AI Biosecurity Lab supported by OpenAI, Anthropic and Google DeepMind. Bloomberg also describes up to £200 million in AI model credits from OpenAI and Anthropic and separate £65 million for developing pathogen countermeasures.
