TLDR

On October 6, Mario Nawfal relayed Lt. Col. Anthony Aguilar’s assessment that Israel would strike Lebanon within days and probably Iran. Aguilar left open whether the U.S. would join the strikes or provide tankers and command aircraft. He argued that wider strikes would not change Tehran’s conditions.

Mario Nawfal@MarioNawfal🇮🇱🇮🇷 Israel is preparing to strike Iran with or without Washington, and the rhetoric since Camp David points to Washington going along Lt. Col. Anthony Aguilar has noticed that the lines from Trump, Rubio and Hegseth about Iran taking the deal or getting the business end have gotten harder since the Camp David meeting, which tells him whatever was discussed there was the next phase rather than a settlement. His assessment is that Israel strikes within days, in Lebanon for certain and probably in Iran, and he reads "with or without" as a battle cry. The question he leaves open is whether the American role is bombs or the tankers and command aircraft that have been piling up for weeks. The reason the war keeps restarting is older than any meeting. Everything in April's 14-point memorandum is negotiable between Washington and Tehran except Israel leaving Lebanon, Gaza and Syria, and that single missing plank is why the bridge never gets built. He doesn't think wide strikes change Tehran's conditions, which means round two buys the same stalemate at a cost that, as he put it, comes out of every American's livelihood. @WeTheBrandon16m
