TLDR

A post recounts OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s warning that some financial institutions still use voice authentication for large transfers, a protection he says AI has already defeated. Separately, a market-focused post cites the highest number of S&P 500 companies issuing positive quarterly EPS guidance since FactSet began tracking the measure in 2006.

@palehonkSam Altman (CEO of OpenAI): AI could help a scammer take your money Even if you never gave it f#cking access to your account. Don’t have a ChatGPT account? Whoever’s faking your voice doesn’t give a sh#t. If your bank authorizes transfers by voice, your money could depend on how convincingly someone plays YOU. They don’t need your password. They need the bank to hear YOU. At a Federal Reserve event, Altman warned that some financial institutions still use voice authentication for large transfers. According to him, AI has already defeated that protection. Yesterday: a chatbot could earn your trust to squeeze you for money. Today: a scammer could fake the voice of someone you already trust. You hear a loved one. A stranger gets paid. But “AI did it” doesn’t excuse banks from verifying identities, or us from checking requests before sending money. A familiar voice isn’t a reason to switch your f#cking brain off. If a voice can already be faked, why are you still trusting it with your money?6h
@jvisserlabsTime to enter earnings season with sentiment focused on rates, oil and breadth while the estimated YoY eps for Q3 is 29.5% and we have the "highest number of S&P 500 companies issuing positive EPS guidance for a quarter since FactSet began tracking this metric in 2006." Over 55% of SPX is the digital economy (tech plus non tech Mag7) now and NDX and Equal weight tech made new all-time highs last week. Strategists still caught in the broadening out trade hoping for a crash. Follow the signal and avoid the noise to survive.4h
