@IUX24_OfficialIndiGo Eyes 100 Embraer Jets: Regional Aviation Boom in India India’s dominant budget carrier is setting its sights on the country's fast-growing tier-2 and tier-3 cities, and Brazilian planemaker Embraer could be the biggest winner. IndiGo is currently in early-stage negotiations to purchase 100 regional jets with options for 50 more, a multibillion-dollar transaction that would mark one of the largest commercial orders in Embraer’s history. The talks span the E-Jet family, including the E175, E190-E2, and E195-E2, designed to seat between 88 and 146 passengers. For IndiGo, regional jets fill a crucial operating sweet spot between its 78-seat ATR turboprops and 180+ seat Airbus A320neos, giving the carrier the flexibility to launch profitable routes into smaller airports under regional connectivity schemes without risking excess capacity. The strategic timing aligns with Embraer’s deepening industrial footprint in South Asia. With Embraer and Adani Defence & Aerospace advancing plans for a local final assembly line in India for the E175, securing IndiGo as an anchor regional customer would cement the Brazilian manufacturer's presence in the world’s fastest-growing aviation market ahead of deliveries targeted for 2030 and beyond.
