Federal Bank appoints Cognizant’s Rajesh Varrier as independent director

The Economic Times reports that Federal Bank appointed Rajesh Varrier, Cognizant’s president of global operations, as an additional non-executive independent director with immediate effect. Citing the bank’s stock exchange filing, the paper says shareholders must approve the three-year appointment at the next general meeting or within three months, whichever is earlier.
