HUD reportedly plans fair-lending investigation of Wells Fargo

Yahoo Finance says Wells Fargo pledged $60 billion in loans in 2017 to help add 250,000 Black homeowners by 2027. Citing The Wall Street Journal, it reports HUD sent CEO Charlie Scharf a letter in October 2026 saying it would investigate whether the bank violated fair-lending laws. Yahoo Finance said Wells Fargo had not yet commented on the inquiry.
