Universal Music Group reportedly held preliminary talks about going private

Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, reports that Universal Music Group’s management spoke with private equity firms including Apollo Global Management, TPG and Blackstone earlier in 2026 about going private. As of October 26, the conversations had not progressed, Universal had not begun a sales process, and its board was aware of the talks, the report says.
