Some Massachusetts nursing homes reportedly fell from the best-rated to among the worst after buyouts

The Boston Globe’s Spotlight team reports that some of Massachusetts’s best-rated nursing homes fell to among the worst after a New Jersey man bought them. It says patient care plummeted and veteran staff fled, while the state kept letting him buy more. The team also found widespread problems and little state intervention as RegalCare and other chains expanded in Massachusetts.
