India’s formal manufacturing sector expanded across gross value added, output, employment, capital and wages in 2024-25, according to Annual Survey of Industries figures released by India’s statistics ministry and reported by ET Bureau.

ET Bureau reported that gross value added rose 9.6% to ₹26.9 lakh crore from ₹24.6 lakh crore a year earlier, while industrial output increased 7.8% to ₹165.2 lakh crore, citing the ASI release from the statistics ministry.

The same report said the sector added 1.4 million workers in 2024-25, taking the total factory workforce to about 21 million.

Capital, establishments and pay also increased

ET Bureau also reported that invested capital grew 11.1% to ₹75.6 lakh crore in 2024-25, the number of establishments increased 2.6% to 0.27 million, and total emoluments rose 12.1% to ₹8 lakh crore.
