The Economic Times reports Indian Railways is planning AI-based defect detection, real-time sensors and predictive maintenance to improve freight wagon reliability and safety and draw more business to rail. An official said a field trial in selected zones would analyze images of moving wagons for damaged, missing or hanging parts. A freight grievance portal, electronic brake-power certificates, refrigerated-container wagons and a universal wagon for steel are also planned.
