Tower Semiconductor plans more than ¥600 billion investment in Japan

Nikkei reports that the Israeli optical-communications chipmaker expects the investment to make Japan its largest production base. It is also considering collaboration with NTT Group.

Nikkei reports that Tower Semiconductor’s CEO outlined investment of more than ¥600 billion in Japanese factories that would make Japan the company’s largest production base. The Israeli company manufactures chips for other companies and has two production sites in Toyama and one in Niigata following its 2014 acquisition of Panasonic factories. It is also considering collaboration with NTT Group.
