TLDR
The Straits Times and The Business Times report that preliminary Ministry of Manpower figures put Singapore’s Q3 2026 retrenchments at 4,800, up from 4,620 in Q2. Business reorganisation remained the main driver, with layoffs elevated in information and communications, financial services and manufacturing. Total employment grew by 27,700, but most of that growth came from non-residents. The ministry flagged “emerging weaknesses” in parts of the labour market.
