Taiwan blocks Grab’s proposed purchase of Foodpanda Taiwan

The Business Times reports that Taiwan’s Fair Trade Commission blocked Grab’s proposed US$600 million purchase of Foodpanda Taiwan from Delivery Hero. The regulator said Uber’s stake in Grab could reduce the companies’ incentive to compete and found their proposed safeguards insufficient. Grab said it was disappointed; Delivery Hero said its right to appeal remains unaffected.
