TLDR

Memory chips are critical AI infrastructure. Micron's record results and multi-year sold-out capacity reinforce the AI supercycle narrative and contrast with typical commodity boom-bust cycles. The results fuel market debates on valuation and whether massive AI capex spending will sustain, alongside skepticism about historical memory cycles repeating.

@LastHair_BenderWall Street is so used to memory being a boom/bust commodity trade that it’s missing the structural moat being built right now. Long-term supply commitments stretching into 2031 aren't typical cycle behavior for $MU. Once the market re-rates the multiple, the move higher could be aggressive.
@Deenobrown123You can’t be serious, can you? “The market doesn’t want to pay for a stock of the business can’t prove a long term opportunity to grow”! Really? Not one company in the world has certain growth forever! Not one. Especially now with Ai. For all we know, Costco, Wal Mart, or even Meta might be out of business in 10 years. No one knows for certain. But what do we know for certain about MU? We know they are sold out for all of 2027. We know that supply won’t catch demand in 2027 or 2028! We also know that 1/3 of their business is in 5 year contracts! We know the more Ai builds out, the more memory will be needed. We know that Micron’s CEO said even with additional capacity over the next 2 years, they still can’t catch demand. So, what does that mean? More units sold, at higher prices. lol. You can’t make this shit up. We have more certainty in MU right now than we do in most companies. Yet, it trades at a 5x forward PE. Micron will have over $100 billion dollars in cash next quarter. If they buy US bonds with that cash and get 5% interest for the next 30 years, almost every company in the SnP 500 will never be able to catch up to that cash pile for the next 30 years. Thats without making another penny. It will take Costco nearly 5 years to make as much profit as MU just made in one quarter. It will take Tesla 4 years to make the same profit that MU just made in one quarter. Micron trades at 6x forward PE, not 60x. Micron’s next few years are more certain than most of other companies in the stock market. Micron will be sitting on over $200 billion dollars in cash by the end of 2027! lol. But, yeah, you’re right! lol
