Hackers post purported GMO customer information after unmet $50 million ransom demand

Bloomberg reported that hackers posted what they claimed was GMO customer information after an unmet $50 million ransom demand. GMO refused the demand and urged customers to scan PCs, back up files, and unplug and turn off devices. In Bloomberg reporting carried by The Straits Times, Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama said she had received no reports of new unauthorized transactions. Those accounts did not authenticate the posted information.
