GST Council was expected to weigh one application process for multiple state GST registrations on October 7, 2026

The Economic Times, carrying a PTI report updated October 5, said the GST Council was likely to consider the proposal at its October 7, 2026, meeting. A redesigned form would let businesses apply for GST registration in several states together, carrying their details between applications. Each state would still have a separate registration. The council was also likely to consider automatic approvals for some changes to registration details.
