India and Canada aim to close trade deal before Modi's December visit

The Economic Times reports that India and Canada aim to conclude a trade agreement before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled December 11–12 visit to Canada. Canadian trade minister Maninder Sidhu said another negotiating round was planned for November 9 in New Delhi. The paper says talks on a bilateral investment treaty would follow a trade deal, with India's position on keeping taxation outside that treaty a major sticking point.
