U.S. eases enforcement for compounding six unapproved peptides
Reuters reports FDA staff recommended against allowing the six peptides in compounded medicines; an advisory committee recommended allowing them.
TLDR
Reuters reports Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. advanced an interim policy allowing licensed pharmacies and physicians to compound six unapproved peptides, including BPC-157 and TB-500. Regulators won't take enforcement action if compounders meet requirements for ingredient quality, manufacturing, labeling, safety reporting and patient-specific prescriptions. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. Public Citizen's Robert Steinbrook warned the move could expose patients to contamination, impurities and unknown side effects.
