Workers likely displaced by AI take longer to find jobs
Goldman Sachs found likely AI-displaced workers took roughly a month longer to find jobs than other laid-off workers.
TLDR
Goldman Sachs analyzed more than 15,000 workers laid off between 2016 and 2025, estimating which job losses were likely AI-related. Workers most likely displaced by AI in 2025 took roughly a month longer than other laid-off workers to find jobs and were roughly 10 percentage points more likely to remain unemployed a year later. Of workers from AI-exposed jobs reemployed in 2025, roughly three-quarters entered occupations with similar or greater AI exposure.
