Iran exempts Indian, Chinese, Iraqi and Qatari ships from Hormuz restrictions
Iran will charge Indian and Chinese ships transit fees but let Qatari vessels pass free, a senior lawmaker says.
TLDR
Tehran expects medicine from India and political backing from China in return, Iranian lawmaker Amir Hayat Moqaddam says. He did not specify whether Iraqi ships would pay tolls. US Central Command says its blockade still applies to vessels entering or leaving Iranian ports. Which ships qualify for Iran's exemptions, whether by flag, owner, operator or another link, remains unclear.
