‘Tinder Swindler’ Simon Leviev’s dating app plan draws industry backlash

ICIJ reports that Simon Leviev, who inspired the 2022 Netflix documentary ‘The Tinder Swindler,’ says he plans to launch a dating app called Safe Love to help women date safely. The Online Dating and Discovery Association urged Apple and Google not to host it, arguing that a convicted fraudster’s involvement would undermine the industry’s anti-fraud work. Leviev was convicted of theft, fraud and document forgery in Israel in 2019.
