Metro’s Russian unit reportedly committed 1 billion rubles to Russia’s war effort
Handelsblatt reports Metro AG distanced itself from the commitment and rejected support for Russia’s war against Ukraine.

About a month after Putin ordered temporary administration of Metro’s Russian unit, the unit said it committed 1 billion rubles ($12.4 million) to Russia’s war effort, Bloomberg reports. The money is intended for communications and anti-drone equipment. Handelsblatt reports the donation was directed to the “Volksfront. Alles für den Sieg!” fund and that German parent Metro AG rejected support for the war.
