Studio Behind VR Hit ‘Walkabout Mini Golf’ Lays Off 25% of Staff, Raises DLC Price Moving Forward | Road To VR
Mighty Coconut, the studio behind VR game Walkabout Mini Golf, has laid off 25% of its staff and raised the price of future downloadable content (DLC) by $1 to $5 to offset costs. Founder Lucas Martell explained the challenges the studio is facing in the VR game development landscape, including the difficulty of maintaining a mobile version of the game in sync with VR platforms. The studio will focus on VR versions of the game and scale back development of additional activities. This follows recent layoffs and closures in the wider VR industry.
