Airbus to migrate critical apps to a sovereign Euro cloud
Airbus plans to move critical applications to a European cloud, aiming for digital sovereignty. The aerospace company estimates an 80/20 chance of finding a suitable provider. The migration, driven by the need for sensitive data control and access to new software, will involve applications like ERP and CRM. The contract, expected to launch in January, will be long-term and worth over €50 million.
Airbus wants to move key on-premises applications including ERP, manufacturing execution systems, CRM, and product lifecycle management (aircraft designs) to the cloud. The contract – understood to be worth more than €50 million – will be long term (up to ten years), with price predictability over the period.
