California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced a $50 million settlement with Meta Platforms Inc. to resolve allegations that the company misled millions of Facebook users about privacy controls and allowed third-party apps to access personal information improperly. The settlement requires Meta to implement reforms in overseeing third-party applications on the Facebook platform for three years. Meta did not admit wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
