Apple Just Made Its Second-Biggest Acquisition Ever After Beats - MacRumors
Apple has acquired Q.ai, an Israeli startup specializing in artificial intelligence technology for audio, for nearly $2 billion. This acquisition makes Q.ai Apple's second-largest acquisition to date, following the $3 billion purchase of Beats in 2014. Q.ai's technology focuses on analyzing facial expressions to understand 'silent speech,' potentially enabling non-verbal interactions with Siri. The founding team of Q.ai, including CEO Aviad Maizels, will join Apple. This move comes as Apple's former design chief Jony Ive collaborates with OpenAI on a new AI device, and as other tech companies, like Meta, release AI-powered devices.
