I made a free iOS app that acts as a bluetooth remote and turns pages on your eReader. I’d love some feedback!
Hey everybody!
I wanted to share a passion project I’ve been working on called eMote. I’m a huge reader, and was tempted by the Kobo remote but wanted to see if I could build something myself to fit that use case. I recently 3D printed a mount for reading in bed and a remote pairs perfectly with it.
I just released version 1.3, which adds a lot of "power user" features the community asked for. I’d love to get some feedback from the crowd here.
Key Features in the latest update:
• Smart Device Management: You can now name your paired devices and toggle an "Active Device" so your commands go exactly where they’re supposed to.
• Swipe-and-Hold Gestures: Added a new gesture that allows for quick page-turning or smooth scrolling when you're in vertical paging modes (where supported).
• Rock-Solid Reliability: I’ve overhauled the Bluetooth logic so the app intelligently stays connected during long reading marathons.
• Apple Watch Support: You can even use the Digital Crown or hand gestures on your Watch to turn pages.
The app is 100% free with zero ads or tracking. It’s just a utility I wanted for myself, and I’m hoping it makes someone else’s reading experience a little more "cozy."
Check it out on the App Store: link to App Store
I’m really looking to improve the UX, so if you try it out and have a "wishlist" feature or find a bug, please let me know in the comments or email me through the app with some feedback!
Happy reading!
Jeff
