I disagree. The way to advance American AI is not by sheltering it from competition. "Banning" Chinese open weight models doesn't stop China from having them, nor does it hurt anyone except law abiding American individuals and companies.

@Altimor My brother, how will restricting open weights of theirs stop their ability to surpass us? They will continue to do whatever they want. The only difference is you will be competing with the global market with your arm tied behind your back as you mentioned.
