Positive users praise Apple Intelligence's new Clean Up, Extend, and Reframe tools in the Photos app as practical and effective enhancements, while negative users criticize the results as low-quality, inauthentic, or long overdue.

Loading sped up 7x in editing

@jammasternate @BenGeskin Recreating a memory in spatial will involve coming up with different perspectives by definition. I think that is the future and I’m ok with it as long as the memory being shown happened.
Image Playground 2.0 concerns me more.

@BenGeskin Imagine doing this for your dick pic

@BenGeskin now shitty photographers can add AI blur and detail loss to their shitty photos instead of just learning rule of thirds

@BenGeskin I keep getting this error when using any new photos features. iPhone 17 btw😔

@BenGeskin No way.. How did Apple beat Pixel to this?

@BenGeskin Photos are all now the ship of Theseus.

@BenGeskin What even is the point of taking pictures nowadays

@BenGeskin This is not a real photo anymore. Memories will be fake

@BenGeskin They seem to be generating a splat using their ml-sharp model then using your user orientation as input to generate anything missing from the splat at your new view, very cool use of a splat.

@neilcybart @BenGeskin Wow, shocked to hear that. I imagine this pushes what you find acceptable to the limits though? I feel like any further than this and it'd be considered too much editing and "regeneration" of a person and the subtle details would start to be off.

@ijustine Apple WWDC 90% is AI + age restrictions and 10% rolling back terrible design decisions with Tahoe. What a joke. Falloff.

@BenGeskin I’ve been enjoying playing around with it. Crashing more often than not thought atm.

@TechCrunch Spatial Reframing on-device means photo quality is now chip-dependent. Apple just made matching impossible without matching the silicon. That's the moat.

@ijustine I love that the features are just photo enhancements and not “add a fucking whale to the background”

@ijustine Worst #wwdc in years

@BenGeskin It should works only with Apple Intelligence? I’m curious and excited

@nuexzynl @BenGeskin

@BenGeskin This definitely reminds me of #blackmirror season 7 eulogy episode where they are stepping inside the photograph.

@ijustine This probably still won't work or it'll be delayed and release in a few years.
