AI policy should be one of your top issues
And on this issue, the Republicans are vastly better than the Democrats
Gerstner argues data centers are currently a primary GDP driver.

Positive users agree a data center moratorium risks recession and losing AI lead to China, while negative users reject the claim and voice strong opposition to data centers and their backers.
No Digg Deeper questions have been answered for this story yet.
A small group of activists shut down clean nuclear power - and now they are trying to do the same to data centers. It would plunge the country into a recession, high unemployment & risk our national security to China. 🇺🇸
"Lest we be overconfident in Silicon Valley, let's remember a small group of activists shut down supersonic technology, and all nuclear energy in this country. It's a disaster."
@altcap explains why a data center moratorium would be "horrific" for America:
"All of our GDP growth is coming from the fact that we are building data centers and driving productivity improvements in the economy."
"A data center moratorium would thrust us straight into a recession and high unemployment."
"Secondly, it would cede the entire global game to China. Overnight, we would lose to China in the global AI race. Which is not just about AI, it's about economic security, jobs, and national security."
@altcap True

@altcap the luddite activists weren't a huge issue. the messaging and positioning of the ai companies needs to change dramatically, they did it to themselves

@altcap Very well said. It's an existential threat to fall behind right now.

The nuclear parallel is the right one to draw but the lesson cuts both ways.
Nuclear didn't lose because of a "small group." It lost because the industry couldn't answer basic public concerns about safety and waste for ~30 years.
Data centers are making the same mistake. $64B in projects stalled. Gallup says 2 in 3 Americans oppose them locally. You don't fix that by calling people activists. You fix it by answering the water, grid, and tax incentive questions.

@neoconbill @altcap What happened to ZPE?

@JaceWatson949 @altcap That too!
The more the merrier!
We need A LOT of energy.
I mean like a ish ton.
Trillions and trillions of petawatts.

@neoconbill @altcap For what?

I wanna fly around the universe, that's the whole point of using magnetism and static to fly.
But even if you do it right, we are going to need higher output and more compact to generate the fields I need.
We'll need robots to help us, they need juice too.
If you want to teleport, you need even more.
It's like my magnet arrays but every magnet in the array is an electromagnet that can generate the field around the craft.
Just one ship might be 5000 electromagnets and all of them need juice to generate the field I need to make rockets look like a plaything.

@altcap Only morons would choose this path.

@altcap VERY TRUE, BRAD. THANK YOU!

@altcap Wall st billionaire cronies are driving the world economy into a dystopian society led by this little crony crackpot coattail rider. Overpriced AI schemes . $Tsla, $Iren, $MU China creates the same for a fraction of Wall st 💩

@altcap Of course, the people pushing this "or else China wins!" scam are the very same people who turned communist China into a superpower and a military and economic threat to America.

@altcap thank you, Brad. Perfectly stated.

@altcap @Micro2Macr0 My next Strategy!! ⬇️

@altcap @shaunmmaguire Yes

@altcap IMO there is far more in common with the recent solar and wind project opposition.

@aphysicist @altcap

@altcap Odds are that it’s being funded by China. That’s my bet
