@bindureddy A global pause is pure fantasy—China will never agree, and if it did, it’d just lock in permanent lag for everyone else while the closed labs keep their lead. Competition beats coordination theater every time.
@bindureddy Maybe they mean they're only able to sell more powerful models to the US government from now on? I can see that being a deal they're trying to sell to the public.
A global pause is just a moat-building strategy for closed labs. Even if it happens, the focus will naturally shift from training larger frontier models to optimizing agentic workflows and local orchestration. You don't need a bigger model. You need a smarter deterministic architecture around existing open-source models.
