Apple released iOS 27, its latest iPhone operating system, on Sept. 14, 2026. Its rebuilt assistant, Siri AI, has a narrower rollout: Apple says it starts in English as a beta, with access depending on the device and region.
What is Siri AI?
Siri AI is Apple’s rebuilt assistant for conversations, finding personal information and taking actions across apps. In its June 8 announcement, Apple said it could understand onscreen content and retrieve details from messages, emails and photos, such as a friend’s restaurant recommendation or an old hotel confirmation.
Apple also described actions such as drafting emails and editing or sharing photos. A dedicated Siri app lets users revisit conversations across devices. Searching personal information in third-party apps depends on developers integrating with Spotlight.
Which iPhones can use Siri AI?
Siri AI requires an iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model or later, according to Apple’s compatibility notes. The operating system supports a broader range of phones than the assistant does.
The iPhone 13 mini, for example, can install iOS 27 but does not qualify for Apple Intelligence. Updating that phone will not unlock Siri AI.
