Software Engineer's Mosquito-Tracking Project Draws Tech Ideas and Bug Gripes
A systems engineer posted about tracking mosquitoes in 3D from his phone as a weekend hobby project and considered switching to humans first.
Research engineer yacineMTB described a weekend project that appeared to map mosquito flight paths in three dimensions at high frame rates using only a phone. He noted the work remained preliminary and considered pivoting to human tracking to refine the underlying methods before returning to smaller targets. Separate posts from other users reported frequent mosquito bites, with one asking whether diabetic blood attracts them more and others stating that certain people seem bitten far more often than others.
I think I'm going to switch my mosquito tracking and destruction project to a human tracking project first. Mosquitoes are too difficult so a bigger target like humans will help me develop the base technology necessary, while I figure out how to scale the resolution for mozzies
