What? Technology is not some goal in and of itself, it exists to improve human life. If the people at the top of the AI boom think they're building some vast thing that's likely inimical to humanity we should be concerned

@chris_j_paxton I keep saying treating AGI as a goal is just a category error. Even if we all decide what that even means, this would be like Ancient Sumerians saying that they're in a race to develop Book. It feels like a way of disavowing responsibility for building things that are immoral.
