TLDR

X users including DrewVento posted that iPhone autocorrect alters words they spelled right and creates extra typos. DrewVento stated Apple is messing with the keypad and said he knows he is not making that many errors. Others noted the tool changing terms like duck despite never typing about waterfowl and one suggested disabling predictive text in settings to restore earlier behavior. A reply called the changes a demoralization effort.

@DrewVentoApple is 100% messing with the IPhone keypads. I know for a fact I’m not making this many typos.
@KILLTOPARTY@DrewVento The worst is when you glimpse for half a second your correctly spelled word before AutoCorrect changes it to something else
@lexilunaxoxoIs your iPhone keyboard deceiving you? I turned off predictive text and now my phone types like it used to. Try it: settings-general-keyboard-predictive text off. Let me know how it works for you because it gave me my sanity back typing and correcting like it used to!

@samosaurI use a Mac. That is literally the only reason I stay on the iPhone. The typing experience, literally the most core function of a phone/pocket computer, is absolutely horrendous on the iPhone, and it has been for years. For those who haven’t used a newer android, especially a Samsung, it’s a night and day experience. Autocorrect just works on android. No going back to make sure the iPhone didn’t change a word 3 lines ago just because it felt like it. No issues with changing common words for nonsense you’d have to use a dictionary to even know what it means. It just works. Also, voice dictation is nearly flawless. I simply don’t understand how Apple is the leading tech firm in the world and had to partner with google’s Gemini just to get AI to work natively on its device, and after running iOS 27 beta this whole summer, I can’t wrap my head around how typing is still this bad. (Typing this post on my iPhone now, and it’s a constant flurry of deleting and retyping.) I’m only here for the sync between my Mac and this phone for airdrops and native messages.
@AngryCopsFor all the AI and machine learning on my phone you’re think it would remember the things I type regularly and stop forcing me to retype “duck/ducking” every time. I have never talked about water fowl in my life via text
