@svpino Vibe-coding absolutely gets you to revenue. Where it bites is the first prod outage, debugging code you've never read. Everything I've shipped taught me the same lesson: understand the 10% touching auth, payments, and user data cold, vibe the other 90%.

Somebody I know shipped a product a couple of months ago, and he is already making money.

He doesn't care about the code. Has no clue whether it's good code or bad code. Has never looked at it once because he can't even understand it.

But he is making money and that's all he cares about.

I'm a code nerd, but I'd honestly take messy code that makes money over perfect, beautiful code that doesn't.

Vibe-coding is a superpower for people with good ideas and the willingness to put in the work.

@svpino I was listening to @ThePrimeagen take on @mitchellh token maxing. The thing I think they both missed is that most people are fine with a 2ms delay on video games if it means they get to create what they want.

Most legacy coders are stuck in the "C takes too much memory" mindset.

And yeah, I know plenty of people very fooled. Kind of the vibes of a kid going to school with a bunch of D students celebrating they got a C. You can still be successful with a C average but it’s still objectively stupid.

That wasn’t the point. I don’t think all code should be optimized at all costs. The point is that people are easily fooled to think it’s good when it’s very mediocre. And there are scenarios when mediocre is fine and others where it’s not. But you wouldn’t know if you grew up celebrating mediocrity.

@svpino Ship speed matters. But there's a difference between moving fast with debt you understand and shipping code you can't read at all. Second one has a ceiling.

this works right up until he has users and needs to change something. early on, shipping and finding people who want it beats clean code easily. the bill comes when it succeeds and every change starts taking longer, because nobody understands the code by then, including the agent.

@svpino I run mine similarly. the code review still happens, it's just AI doing it. one reviewer only checks security, one tries to break it like an angry user.

@svpino Good ideas with bad execution still beat bad ideas with perfect execution.

Vibe coding just made that more obvious.
