Web Version of OpenBW StarCraft Engine Released
Header-only pixel-perfect reimplementation of StarCraft I now runs in browser.
OpenBW is a header-only C++ recreation of the original StarCraft engine by developer Tscmoo that matches the classic game pixel-for-pixel and predates modern AI techniques. Researchers highlighted its overlooked status and flexibility for custom interfaces. A web version built with Fable at openbw.heiner.ai now supports 1v1 multiplayer via WebRTC, though limited to desktop with mouse and keyboard and requiring a ~90 MB download. The project enables exact replication without the original binary.
