People have really soured on AI over the last few weeks.

Overall sentiment: very negative.

This mostly comes from the developers I talk to. The non-tech people I know have always been either meh or thumbs down toward AI.

I think all the talk about companies replacing people with AI is finally catching up with folks.

Twitter might tell you that AI is meant to help you and yada yada, but who are we kidding? Every company owner is looking at a spreadsheet right now, trying to figure out how to halve their headcount.

I’m not sure how this will play out, but I don't see how folks will come around. Especially the younger generation.

@svpino At some point there will be a hard lesson in economy: system of connected vessels. Get rid of one economic group -> watch demand shrinking in every other sector. This whole revolution will eat its own tail.

@svpino I've soured on the AI companies & their paranoid "safety" theater. I love AI as a concept & for its future potential. But I hate how its creators have warped it without regard for the users. Even xAI. ESPECIALLY xAI, I might say, because they were supposed to be better.

I was just talking about the negative sentiment from young people toward AI. Literally yesterday lol. As developers and technologists we see the potential good but when I hear boomer CEO’s talk about AI, I can’t help to feel like they are licking their chops to cut employees. The dichotomy of generational POV is real.

The „AI is going to replace us all“ hype is surly going too far. But the reality is that many jobs will disappear, like it or not.

But humans always find new things to do, new jobs will appear, just need to be open minded.

That being said, I‘d hate to be a junior dev right now. It is going to hurt more for some than for others

@svpino Sure, but software development firms will soon find out a single motivated layed off dev with a powerful Claude account will replace them. Software development will become boutique or opensource, or value addins to real-world products like smart coffee pots.

@svpino and a little advice for you: the people crying (like you) will be left behind in this new AI-first corporate world, because AI is not going to disappear, you can cry a river, but you should really take action and stop scaring people for the shake of likes.
