NEO Unveils Tendon-Driven Hands With 25 Degrees of Freedom
1X says its new NEO hands are closing in on human-level dexterity, and the demo clips gave robotics watchers plenty to stare at.
1X founder Bernt Bornich said on X that the company's NEO robot now has 25-degree-of-freedom, tendon-driven hands that are "nearing or surpassing human-level dexterity, strength, speed, and reliability." He cast that as a core humanoid-robotics problem, arguing that "the humanoid bet" lives or dies at the fingertips, while 1X's own post on X shared the demo that drew the most attention.
