@SynthPotatoBase PS5 just got QSSR, a new upscaling feature for base consoles only. This delivers sharper visuals using AI upscaling and is much better than FSR according to Sony. Very curious to see deeper dives into this tech and how it compares to PS5 Pro’s PSSR, especially in GTA 6. It’s now available on Ghost of Yotei and Wolverine via a new update for these games. Really great feature for the PS5, if its anywhere near PSSR, it will make a huge difference for base console owners.
@NikTekPlayStation 5 is going to receive a new update that adds AI upscaling to games, also known as QSSR (Quick Spectral Super Resolution) This is essentially a lighter version of PSSR which is exclusive to PS5 Pro. Because the base PS5 hardware was not built with AI upscaling in mind, QSSR takes a different approach relying on FP16 math as supposed to INT8 that PSSR uses, this will target a similar improvement in image detail and temporal stability. Marvel's Wolverine and Ghost of Yotei are the first games to receive an update adding this feature with a wider support for future games In this comparison here showcasing Marvel's Wolverine, you can see how much more detailed the buildings are using QSSR on a base PS5. Honestly, this is fantastic news considering that new hardware is getting more expensive as time goes on, the life cycle of PS5 will be extended further and it is a free upgrade!
