I don't think I will actually let myself become that much less unhinged because of this, but consider this example. Yesterday I tweeted something critical of Leading the Future, the PAC funded in part by Greg Brockman. Multiple OAI people liked the tweet, and not a single person from any part of OpenAI complained to me about it, publicly or privately. However, more than one person responded with an eyeroll and said, nonsensically, "of course this is what the OpenAI guy thinks." People will say that about literally whatever you post if it is remotely relevant to an issue they associate with the firm, even if what you are posting is on the critical side of the firm. It is essentially next-token completion.

@deanwball The most common criticism I've heard is that LTF is recognized as OAI's actual voice in DC and gov affairs exists mostly to placate employees while not actually driving policy. This is entirely consistent with everything you've described.
