Across virtually every grade level and subject, the average Alpha school student scores above the 99%ile individual.

@justindross I was thinking about schools like this- do you think this basically works because the parents for schools like alpha school are usually very involved and very smart themselves?

@justindross Our kids use GT Anywhere which is the remote version of Alpha, it really pushes them!

@berner_my @henrytdowling Brownsville (where they have an Alpha school) is one of the poorest districts in America besides the SpaceX employees. My understanding is the the kids there on scholarship do great

@justindross That’s incredible. Do you have a dataset available to compare these results? Average grades vs peers, reading levels vs peers, math vs peers? costs and class size comparisons. Not looking for acceptance rates into schools, that’s a bit more network related. Just basics statistics

@justindross @henrytdowling It’s more a factor of the cost. The vast majority of kids of parents able to spend 40-70k on tuition are going to do well, statistically.

@justindross @henrytdowling And I’m sure they’re doing really interesting positive things too. Education needs an innovative kick in the pants.

But the data correlating parental income with academic success is so strong that I’m doubtful the ai element is what the major factor is.

@justindross "Deprive them of teachers" have they met most public school teachers? A couple are great, most are bad, some are meaner and dumber than the other kids.

@Austen It is hilarious how many times these people say things in such a way that they think no one could possible think its good ... and we're all like "ummm...yes....exactly that please."
