just practical people who love tech and can ignore a public image play of hostility towards the one country who will commoditize their non-existent intellectual moat
they hate on open-source under the name of safety, they hate on ccp under the name of an authoritarian regime, but really in both these cases it's a rallying cry for a cultural ideological moat that keeps everyone together (on top of future promised financial rewards, which increases in proportion to a constant stream of anti-oss, anti-ccp, anti-employment propaganda)
Imagine being chinese and working for Anthropic. Awwwkward

@suchenzang All I can say is that I have bene working with Chinese people foe decades, at ILOG, at IBM, and at NVIDIA now. I have some CHinese on my team now. They are great co workers, both optimistic and smart.
Poeple criticizing them should rather try to be like them IMHO.

@JFPuget tbf i think the public positioning has always been to have it both ways: claiming they're (anthropic) only "anti-ccp" and not "anti-chinese-people", whom they (anthropic) will gladly employ and profit off of as needed

@yacineMTB Those Chinese actually don't care about that, they don't care about discrimination and humiliation, money is all they care about LOLL

@yacineMTB ant makes them wear a geolocating buttplug.

@yacineMTB let’s not talk about all the amazing european talent in the frontier labs, while the eu has not a single relevant lab themselves

@suchenzang @yacineMTB Sounds like every country and every regime. Do you know any government or political party in Asia that isn’t running the same playbook to increase internal cohesion?
As for commoditization - that’s also always true for software. It’s why you always race to commercialize…

@yacineMTB Being Chinese doesn’t mean supporting the CCP though. 🤔

@yacineMTB yaoshunyu

@suchenzang This. Imagine thinking that the whole world revolves around identity politics.
(... yes, some of it does, but there are still reasonable people out there)

@yacineMTB That’s catastrophe.

@yacineMTB 😂

@yacineMTB Imagine being american and working for deep seek

@yacineMTB I thought that was Anthropic's type, no?

@yacineMTB Unironically there are many of them

@yacineMTB 身在福中不知福

@suchenzang yeah those points hit different
