Some Pixel owners continue to report that alarms fail to sound, years after Google said it had addressed problems with its Clock app. Recent screenshots show a notification stating that an alarm “didn't fire for an unknown reason.”
Android Authority reports that similar complaints date to at least 2021 and have resurfaced periodically across newer Pixel models. The outlet has asked Google whether its teams are aware of the latest reports and is waiting for a response.
Several alarm failures may not share one cause
The “unknown reason” message appears to describe one recurring failure, but other users report different audio behavior. In some cases, alarms, timers and the stopwatch produce no sound even though other audio works. Another report describes sound problems across several apps rather than the Clock app alone.
Those differences make it difficult to treat every missed alarm as one verified bug. Android Authority also cites a case in which a phone became too hot for an alarm to fire, showing that device conditions can produce a similar result through a separate mechanism.
For now, the reporting establishes that fresh complaints continue despite Google's earlier fix claim, not that every Pixel alarm is unreliable or that one cause explains all cases. Users who depend on a Pixel for critical wake-ups may want a backup alarm while Google investigates.
