Anthropic shares three measures to track AI development
Anthropic says its internal snapshot tracks how much AI research and development is done by AI, how well AI agents are overseen and how computing resources are allocated.
TLDR
Anthropic says it wants to narrow the knowledge gap between frontier labs and the public. It says other frontier developers could publish the same measures, which third parties could verify. A user quoting Anthropic’s report shared findings for August 2026: Claude “leads” 26% of the company’s AI R&D work, and the share at or above “AI collaborates” is above 90%. The quoted findings say Claude was not operating fully autonomously for any measured subset of AI R&D work.
